Educational positioning
The SZU HSC aims to become one of the top medical schools with distinguishing features in China, with its base in Shenzhen but the ability to serve nationwide. Medical and biomedical engineering talents undergo a comprehensive education, providing them with extensive theoretical knowledge in the basic medical sciences, clinical medicine, pharmacy, preventive medicine, biomedical engineering and related fields, together with a focus on the development of good professional ethics, humanistic qualities and an innovative spirit.
Undergraduate and Graduate Programs in the SZU HSC
Joint Biomedical PhD Program with Jena University (Germany): Students will be jointly mentored by a professor in SZU and another in Jena University, spend at least 1 year at Jena University and receive their PhD degree from Jena University after successful dissertation defense. Intake: 5-10 students per year.
PhD Program in Biomedical Information Processing : This PhD program in biological signal transduction recruits international students. Intake: 1-2 students per year.
International PhD Program in Molecular Medicine: This program delivers extensive theoretical teaching and systematic professional training in molecular medicine and related fields. Intake: 10-15 international (non-Chinese) students per year.
International MSc Program in Molecular Medicine: This MSc program delivers extensive theoretical teaching and systematic professional training in molecular medicine and related fields. Intake: Up to 30, international (non-Chinese) students per year.
MSc Program in Biomedical Engineering: This program was approved in 2016 and the first enrollment in 2017 will admit 33 students.
Professional Master Program in Biomedical Engineering: This program was approved in 2009 and enrolls ~70 students per year.
Professional Master Program in Clinical Medicine: This program was approved in 2014 and enrolls ~20 students per year.
Bachelor Degree Program s in Clinical Medicine (BMed) , Pharmacy (BSc) , Biomedical Engineering and N ursing (BSc): The SZU HSC enrolled 90, 60, 90, and 167 undergraduates in the above mentioned bachelor programs in 2016, respectively.
As of 2017, the SZU HSC has 957 undergraduates and 290 graduate students currently enrolled.
