A. Personal statement

Jun Cao is the Chief Dentist in the Department of Stomatology of Shenzhen University General Hospital. As an orthodontist, she has been engaged in clinical practice, clinical research and teaching for nearly 30 years. ?From 1992 to 2017, she worked as a staff member in the Department of Orthodontics, at the Stomatology College of the Fourth Military Medical University. As a Professor and Chief Dentist, she has directed ~30 graduate students. As the first person in charge, she held and finished two projects granted by the NSFC. She is the first patentee of a China National Invention Patent. She has published more than 60 articles as the first or corresponding author. She wrote and published an orthodontic monograph, and manufactured three sets of orthodontic diagnosis software. Her research work is mainly on the four following fields:

1.Understanding the mechanisms underlying orthodontic tooth movement and devising resolution strategies.

2.Understanding the mechanisms and developing corrective strategies for malocclusion.

3.Applying functional neuromascular electrical stimulation to restore and adjust oral and maxillofacial muscles.

4.Applying computer technology to orthodontic diagnostics.
