Echo-cardiography based screening for coronary heart disease using integrative machine learning

马平教授是美国佐治亚大学的统计学教授和大数据分析实验室的主任,2003年在普渡大学获得博士学位,2003年至2005年在哈佛大学从事博士后研究。20052013年在伊利诺伊大学香槟分校任助理和副教授。他是伊利诺伊大学高等研究中心贝克曼教授,美国国家超级计算和应用中心讲席、美国国家科学基金会CAREER AWARD获得者。他的论文获得了2011年加拿大统计杂志的最佳论文奖。他在多个国际顶尖杂志编辑委员会任副主编,包括《美国统计协会杂志》和《遗传学和分子生物学中的统计应用》。他是美国统计协会的会士。

报告简介(Abstract):

Coronary heart disease is a global epidemic that led to roughly 1/3 of deaths worldwide. Extensive clinical evidence suggests that a preventive screening of coronary heart disease at an earlier stage can greatly reduce mortality rate. The most popular preventive practice is the stress ECG test which requires large amount of clinician's participation and practically infeasible for senior subjects or subjects with disability. There are also other problems such as risk of heart failure and time consuming. To deal with this problem, we present an echo-cardiology based screening method that only use clinical records and myocardial movements as diagnosis features. The entire practice only need 30 second to complete.  Based on a clinical trail that is conducted in Beijing hospital,  the prediction accuracy of our method on testing data can reach 93% accuracy. Our results lay a foundation for the deployment of echo-based screening tools for global

improvements of cardio health.
