The SZU Health Science Center (HSC) attaches great importance to the Internationalization Action Plan of Shenzhen University. With the steady increase in the number of foreign students attending the university in recent years, the HSC took action to foster cross-cultural communication between domestic and international students and help foreign students settle into campus life. As such, the SZU HSC international students interchange activity was held on December 5, 2020.

The interchange activity consisted of two parts: the tour of the GREAT TIDES SURGE ALONG THE PEARL RIVER exhibition, highlighting 40 years of reform and opening-up in Guangdong and then team building games. The HSC students visited the Shenzhen Museum of Contemporary Art and Urban Planning in the morning. In the exhibition, the students experienced the new media art scroll and 3D scanning system. By visiting the museum, the students developed a deep understanding of Shenzhen, the pioneer city of China's reform and were impressed by what is known as “the Shenzhen miracle”.

In the afternoon, all of the students enjoyed participating in team building games at Dapeng Bay. The outdoor team building activities were fun and active, and everyone was in a relaxed and casual mood. Some games focused on communication skills, involving giving and listening to instructions while some were much more difficult and emphasized the need for teamwork. The students, all with different cultural backgrounds and nationalities, presented their ideas from different angles and expanded their horizons and ways of thinking.

These activities provided opportunities for the HSC students to deeply understand the story of China's reform and opening-up and experience the miracle of Shenzhen's development. Importantly, the activities helped all the students to learn more about each other and work effectively together.
