On December 19^th  and 20^th , 2016, Professor Jan Hoeijmakers visited the Health Science Center and gave a lecture titled “The impact of DNA damage on cancer, aging and longevity” , hosted by Professor Zhu Weiguo, Dean of the Health Science Center.

   Professor Jan Hoeijmakers introduced the effects of DNA damage on cancer, aging and longevity. His group recently demonstrated that strict diet can reduce DNA damage and prolong the lives of progeria mice, which will help us further understand the benefits of strict diet and develop treatments for progeria.

   The 2-hour lecture was interesting, attractive and warmly welcomed by all teachers and students.

   Professor Jan Hoeijmakers also visited Medical Teaching and Experiment Center and Xili Campus and communicated with several professors of the Health Science Center. Both sides are looking forward to cooperating in the future.
