On November 11^th, 2023, the Shenzhen University Medical School hosted the Shenzhen University Medical School International Students “Academic Salon” at the Lihu Campus of Shenzhen University. The Academic Salon comprises a series of engaging activities and serves as a platform for academic exchange and discussion among Chinese and international students, fostering academic innovation, and expanding global vision.

The themes of this Academic Salon included basic medical sciences, intelligent medical engineering, innovative drug development, clinical medicine and pandemics, big data, and one health. Associate Professor Yin Peng from the Shenzhen University Medical School delivered the welcome speech for this event. Then, ZAMAN ASIM and KHAN SAJID from Pakistan, HASAN IKRAM from Bangladesh, MULUH TOBIAS ACHU from Cameroon, and PENG WU and ZHENGYUAN GAO from China prepared oral presentations where they shared with the audience their latest research findings around these themes.

More than 50 international and Chinese students and staff from various departments attended the Academic Salon. An engaging Q&A session followed each presentation, with thoughtful questions raised by the audience reflecting their keen interest in the topics. Overall, the Academic Salon was an engaging and intellectually stimulating session. As such, Shenzhen University will make the Academic Salon a series event that will continue to serve as a platform for academic exchange among Chinese and international students and to explore new research innovations among young talents in training.
