A.?Personal?Statement

There are two main threads to our current research. ?the mechanism of insulin secretion from pancreatic β-cellswith?an?emphasis?on?the?role?of?epigenetically?regulation?of?ion?channels.??epigenetically?regulation?of differentiation?of?progenitor?β-cells.?We?study?mouse/rat?models?of?diabetes?as?well?as?normal?human?and?rodent β-cells. I have served as the founding director of the Diabetes Institute at Shenzhen University since 2010. Our research has been supported by the National Natural Science Foundation in China (NSFC) and the Strategic Funds for Scientific and Innovative Development of Shenzhen Municipality. I am currently mentoring 2 postdoctoral fellows and 3 post-graduated?students.
